Lace Code readers, we are so back!!

The new update for CFB 27 dropped today, and I cannot wait to download it and get to playing my new dynasty—the one I am going to be writing about and sharing with you all.

I just finished Season Two of my initial Coastal dynasty, and we did it!

We won the Natty!

Nico Iamaleava was my quarterback, and we had a pretty damn good team, not going to lie. It was a lot of fun, but now I am ready for something new.

And this update gives me the perfect opportunity to start over.

The Freshman Are Here

The addition of the new freshmen is probably what I am most excited about.

It still kind of baffles me that there were players who were in the game last year but weren’t initially in the game this year. Like, I am pretty sure I saw Cameron Dyer get added, and he was already in last year’s game.

I understand why some of the incoming freshmen weren’t available at launch, especially guys who weren’t early enrollees. NIL changes obviously make things a little more complicated, and I know getting all of these players into the game isn’t as simple as just adding their names to a roster.

Still, I wish they could have been there from the beginning.

But hey, they’re here now.

And I am ready to recruit.

I am really excited to see what this new dynasty looks like with all of these freshmen and younger players available.

Will I only coach at Coastal?

I guess you’ll have to wait and see.

NIL Recruiting Has Been Really Fun

One of the things I have really enjoyed about CFB 27 is the NIL system.

Especially since the initial patch, I think it has become a much better tool for recruiting.

When the game first came out, some of the NIL demands were absolutely ridiculous. I’m talking about three-star and two-star recruits asking for way more money than they should have been getting.

Like, bro…

You’re a two-star recruit.

Relax.

Thankfully, that has gotten much better, and now you can actually find some gems who don’t require a massive NIL deal.

That’s one of the things I really enjoy about dynasty mode. Finding those players who aren’t necessarily highly rated coming out of high school, but you see something in them and decide to take a chance.

Then a couple of years later, they’re an absolute stud.

Those are the players I want to find.

Who Should I Recruit?

This is where you guys can help me.

Are there any particular players you think I should try to recruit?

I really want to try and land some of these top freshmen and sophomores, but I also want to find some hidden gems.

One player I had in my current Coastal dynasty was Micah Hudson, and I absolutely cooked with him.

Dude won the Fred Biletnikoff Award for us.

He was NICE.

Because I already had him in my current dynasty, I’ll probably try to stay away from some of the players I’ve already used. I like switching things up and finding new players to build around.

But you also never know.

Sometimes a player is just too good to pass up.

There Are Some Guys You Just Can’t Pass On

One of my favorite players to snag is Deondre Johnson from Jacksonville State.

Bro is 6’8″ and is an absolute monster if you move him to tight end.

It’s usually pretty damn hard for me to pass him up when I see him available.

That’s the type of player I want to find in this dynasty.

Give me someone who might not necessarily be the highest-rated recruit but has the physical tools to become a monster if I put him in the right position.

That’s what makes dynasty mode so much fun.

You aren’t just recruiting players.

You’re building them.

You’re developing them.

You’re figuring out where they fit.

And then, hopefully, you’re watching them become stars.

The New Coastal Dynasty Begins

So here we go.

A brand-new Coastal dynasty is officially beginning.

I have no idea exactly where this journey is going to take us.

Maybe I stay at Coastal for the entire thing.

Maybe I eventually take another job.

Maybe we build Coastal into a national powerhouse and never leave.

Maybe we completely screw it up.

Who knows?

That’s the fun of dynasty mode.

But I cannot wait to get started with this new roster, these new freshmen, the updated gameplay, recruiting and everything else that comes with it.

And of course, I am going to bring you all along for the journey.

So get ready.

The Coastal dynasty is back.

Let’s see if we can build another damn championship team.
